Part 3
“Janet! It’s been a long time. How are you?” Dr. Gabriel welcomed Janet warmly into his clinic on the warm spring morning.
“Well actually, I have been feeling tired and fat lately. Haha if I’m being honest.”
“Tired you say? That’s odd, I thought all the kids were being more responsible and independent so you didn’t have to supervise them all the time like when they were younger.
“Yes you are right that is the case. They are all doing their chores around the house. I thought that originally my fatigue could have come from that but now, I don’t know. Maybe I’m just getting run down.”
“Let’s take some tests and see if anything is wrong with your urine or blood.” Said Dr. Gabriel as he escorted Janet from his room.
---
“Alright, the blood tests came in and I think I found your problem. Your blood test looks as follows. There is nothing wrong with your urine, which is a good sign. However, can you tell me what seems to be different than normal in your blood?”
Janet looked over the piece of paper with tired hands and yawned. She noticed some abnormalities near the bottom of the page regarding TSH. She started asking Dr. Gabriel some questions frantically.
“What is TSH? Why it is so high in my body? What could have caused this increase of TSH? Does this explain some of the symptoms I’ve been having?”
The doctor tried to calm her down and started to explain her situation.
